ERUH VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

        

 History

       OurVocational School’s establishment was recommended to the Higher EducationInstitution Presidency and Eruh Vocational School was established within SiirtUniversity on 04.15.2009 pursuant to Higher Education Institution Presidency’s  Law number 2880 amended by Law 2547 7/d-2 and7/h clauses and 4th clause of the Law number 3843.  It continues its education activities within 2different departments among existing departments. Our Vocational School aims atraising members of profession in the light of science, who are open to changeand improvement, who have social sensitivity and responsibility, whose problemsolving abilities are advanced,  who havelearnt to the techniques for reaching the information, who can make analysis agriculturalindustrial  on national and internationalstandards, who acquire the knowledge and ability the service area requires, whoare loyal to modern, democratic, secular and social state of law principle andvalues. There is a 350-people capacity dormitory for male students and a100-people capacity female student dormitory within Eruh VocationalSchool.  In addition to these, there is asports center, dining hall, cafeteria and as an Organic Agriculture applicationarea; we have a peanut and fruit orchard.

          It is to teach the internationalquality of information and technology to the students who lead in establishinguniversity-industry-society cooperation in our city and region and who areranked at the top levels among Turkey’s Vocational Schools.

          It isto raise graduates who are open to the innovations our era requires, who hasfree and scientific thinking, who is; educated, sophisticate, who has respectfor Law, who criticizes, creates, debates, who can serve the public byimproving their abilities and who has global competitiveness, who acquires teamwork and who can contribute to the economy by being beneficial in theproduction environment.

FOREWORD

                Siirt University Eruh Vocational Schoolcontinues to perform its studies to become Turkey’s leading educationalinstitution and to add up to its services the improvements of its field. Withthe modern substructure and the educational stuff  we have, we continue the activities of our 3programs (Organic Agriculture, Milk andMilk Products, Pistachio Agriculture)   adding up new ones (Map andCadastre, Office Management and Secretary, Elderly Care and PediatricDevelopment) in terms of quality and quantity.

        Ourschool Program innovation studies will continue in accordance with theVocational High education Renovation Studies carried out nationally and alsowithin Siirt University’s “Bologna Process” connected “Program ImprovementStudies” in coordination with “Process Step Monitoring”. When these studies arecompleted, our curriculums, with their course content and credits, will havebeen made consistent with national and international standards.

      Our school’s main objective is to allowfor more region people to have the opportunity to be educated in our VocationalSchool in the future along with the various program. Besides that, among ourobjectives there is to raise qualified personnel who acquire all the qualitiesour day requires in the light of technical developments made in the milktechnology field along with the agricultural activities of the region andreaching a qualified production correspondingly.

         Our school’s main objectives are tocontinue the modern education services oriented at the region’s needs, tosustain the needed opportunities for the region people to get this educationand to continue to sustain continuing modern education qualifications.

Departments:

     

 

Our Vocational School is in service with6 academic personnel and 4 administrative personnel.  As of 2012–2013 Academic Year it has 47 male, 31female; in total 78 students.

 

Pistachio and its Agriculture Program:

The main purpose is to raise human powerto solve the problems faced while raising pistachio and to work in agriculturalindustry.

The title of graduates of the programand their field of work: Those who graduate from the Pistachio and its AgricultureProgram  are called "PistachioTechnicians”.  Pistachio Agriculture andTechnology Technicians are helping personnel to agriculture engineers and theywork for planning in the process of creating orchard, choosing the material togrow, monitoring and solving the problems in cultivation, processing andmarketing of the pistachio.

Internship Applications during theeducation and its length: Students of the department do their compulsoryinternship within their education at the end of the 2nd semester for 30 workdays. Students are allowed to do their summer internship in the places theyplease.  

Organic Agriculture Program:

Organic Agriculture is a production typethat is popular around the globe since 1920 whose every step from production toconsumption is controlled and certified and done without using any kind ofchemicals. The purpose of organic agriculture is to protect the environment, plant,animal and human health without contaminating soil and water resources and theair.

The title of graduates of the programand their field of work: Those who graduate from the Organic Agriculture Programare called "Organic Agriculture Technicians”. Organic AgricultureTechnicians work in  determining thetechniques and their application in planting, plant protection, watering,harvesting, organic disinfection, picking the product without harming itsorganicism and the classification, protection and storing after packaging ofthe picked products.

Milk and Milk Products Technology Program:The need for food products are increasing as the world’s population isincreasing. Milk and milk products take up an important part of these foodproducts. As an excellent nutrition product milk is especially rich for proteins,minerals and vitamins. It is also the main source for calcium which isessential for bone and body development. Milk and Milk Products Program servesfor two purposes which are producing dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt,butter, milk, milk powder and ice-cream with sanitary and conserving thequality of the end products until they are consumed. Milk chemistry andbiochemistry, milk processing techniques, quality check, and milk by-productsmake up the main subjects of the department as the program informs the studentsabout these subjects theoretically and practically.

The title of graduates of the programand their field of work: Those who graduate from the Milk and Milk Products Program   are called "Milk TechnologyTechnicians”. Milk technicians work in milking the animals by hand or by machinery,pasteurizing and bottling of the milk,  dairy products’ like butter, cheese, yoghurt, milk powder, ice-cream production and they also do the qualitycheck and plan marketing of these products. Dairy products technician carriesout these studies under agriculture engineer’s watch.

Social Services Program:

Social Service is a science branch whichaims at providing equal enhancement effectively in the society to maximizesocial welfare and the people to become free and strong. The objective of theSocial Services Program is to raise social service experts who have thequalifications their field requires, who are open to development, who has avision and who are equipped with theorical and practical  knowledge their field needs.

Required Qualifications:

 Social services field can befascinating and satisfying for those who are looking for a profession which hasdeep interest for individual and society problems and which will constantlyimprove itself and its social understanding.

The title of graduates of the programand their field of work: Those who graduate from Social Services andConsultancy programs “work under the title of “Social WorkerTechnician”.Social Worker Technicians, thanks to their professional knowledge and ability, helpindividuals with solving the problems of some groups like children who needprotection, elder people, people with disabilities, the poor,  criminals, the unemployed; and they carry ontheir studies by making use of social resources with the help of institutionsin order that these problems are prevented and solved on a societal level.

Fields of Work: Social workertechnicians can work in hospitals connected to Ministry of Health, Counselingand Research Centers connected to National Education Ministry, Ministry ofLabor and Social Security, Social Services and Children Protection Institution,SSI, Turkish Employment Agency, SPO, Social Services ProvincialDirectorates,  Rehabilitation Centers,Special Education and Work Centers, Nursery-Schools, Orphanages, Kindergartens andDaily-care Centers, Rest Homes, Prisons, Population Planning relatedinstitutions.
